Comparison so…as

มักใช้ในการเปรียบเทียบเพื่อแสดงความไม่เท่าเทียมกัน (Comparison of Inequality)
มีรูปแบบประโยคดังนี้

2.1 …not (so / as ก็ได้) + [adjective / adverb] + as… เช่น
His report is “not so long as” mine.รายงานของเขาไม่ยาวเท่าของฉัน

2.2 …not so + [much + uncountable noun / many + countable noun] + as… เช่น
I don’t have “so much money as” you.
Hens don’t have “so many legs as” buffaloes.
การ เปรียบเทียบเพื่อแสดงความไม่เท่าเทียมกันนี้ ในสมัยก่อนนิยมใช้แต่ not so…as เท่านั้น ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นการใช้ถูกแบบแผนของภาษาอย่างเต็มที่ แต่ปัจจุบันนี้นักไวยากรณ์ทั้งหลาย หันมาใช้ not as…as พอ ๆ กันกับใช้ not so…as ดังนั้นจึงถือว่าใช้ได้ทั้ง 2 แบบ
แบบฝึกหัด
  1. Jim is stronger than Paul. - Paul is ________ Jim.
  2. Your class and my class are noisy. - Your class is________ my class.
  3. Life in the country is slower than in the city.
    - Life in the city is _________ in the country.
  4. Going to restaurants in Budapest is expensive, and in Prague too.
    - Going to restaurants in Budapest _________in Prague.
  5. Last week was busier than this week. - This week is ________ last week.
เฉลยแบบฝึกหัด
    • Jim is stronger than Paul. - Paul is not so strong as Jim.
    • Your class and my class are noisy. - Your class is as noisy as my class.
    • Life in the country is slower than in the city.
      - Life in the city is not so slow as in the country.
    • Going to restaurants in Budapest is expensive, and in Prague too.
      - Going to restaurants in Budapest is expensive as in Prague.
    • Last week was busier than this week. - This week is not so busy as last week.
